SERU practice
Exam-style mock (reported format)
A timed practice test built to a format that one commercial seller says the real assessment uses. That format is unconfirmed: TfL does not publish it. The questions are all our own, written from the handbook.
How this mock is built
- 36 questions: 22 multiple choice, 12 fill in the blank (word bank gaps) and 2 reading and understanding items.
- Questions are shared across all ten handbook sections, weighted by how long each section is. Every section gets at least one multiple choice question.
- A fresh random set and order each time, drawn from 257 original questions plus our reading passages.
- One question at a time. You can go back, change an answer and flag a question. Answers and explanations come at the end.
- A 60 minute countdown. When it reaches zero the test ends and what you have answered is marked.
- Scored in marks. Reading items have one or two parts, so the total can be a mark or two more than 36. The result shows the reported 60% mark as "reported pass mark, unconfirmed".
What it is not
This is practice, not a prediction. We have not seen the real assessment and we do not copy, reword or imitate anyone's claimed exam questions. Our reading passages and questions are our own, based only on the handbook. The standard 30-question mock test is still available, with an optional timer.

Open book? Check with TfL
Some sellers say the handbook is available to look at during the assessment. TfL's SERU page does not say whether that is the case, and we have not been able to confirm it. In January 2024 TfL said it planned to trial an open-book assessment for one group of drivers. Check the current arrangements with TfL when you book. While you practise here, try the questions first and look things up afterwards, as that is the better test of what you know.
Read the official handbook on TfL's own site: TfL PHV Driver's Handbook, version 1.0 (PDF), linked from TfL's SERU page. We do not copy or embed it. Sources: that page, and TfL Notice 01/24 (17 January 2024). Checked 8 Oct 2026.
