Work back from the day you plan to apply, see what you pay and when, then plan your renewal. Fees are TfL's figures as recorded on our fees page (last checked 2 Oct 2026). Timings are placeholders you can change.
What this planner assumes
- Fees: TfL's listed fees for a first application, as in our data. Resits, reattempts and the medical are not included unless you add them. The renewal fee is not in our data, so you type it in.
- Timings: the "weeks before applying" gaps are our own placeholders, not TfL timescales. The three-year licence length and the medical age rules come from the TfL Private Hire Vehicle Driver's Handbook, version 1.0, 30 September 2021.
- Not covered: tax, vehicle costs unless you enter a yearly figure, and any fee TfL changes after 2 Oct 2026.
